Here is a list of our five picks as to why Linux ‘rocks’ as an operating system for PC users. We all know that Linux is the best OS hands down and here is why:

1.Free. Why spend hundreds of dollars when you can spend NOTHING and receive an excellent operating system. This is ideal for those of us who want to avoid any and everything Microsoft, and ideal for those who want to build a PC from scratch on the cheap. For those of us new to Linux, there are many, and I mean many forums where you can learn how awesome and easy Linux is to use.
2.Can be used on “older” hardware. Time to drag out your old computers stashed in your basement. And you thought that they were just collecting dust. Install Linux on these older machines and you will have an up and running antique operating in no time. Linux is also POSIX compliant where it can be operated on other POSIX Unix derivatives.
3.Proactively patched. Because Linux is constantly updated (for free of course), all users will have the capability to optimize their machines.
4.Reliability. Windows Operating Systems are inferior to Linux because Linux implementations cannot cause the computer to become unstable enough to crash.
5.Power. Linux is based on the UNIX design philosophy—having a reliable and fantasically powerful computer that is only limted by the user’s ability to assimilate the numerous UNIX programs.
Granted that this is only a short list, but it is a valid list of the top five reasons why Linux does indeed rock. We could also mention the advanced capabilites that it has. Apache Webserver is typically included with Linux which is an all purpose email server and contains SQL databases. Linux also is distributed by several companies, whereas Windows is the product of a single corporation—Microsoft. You Window’s users have no choice but to accept the tripe Microsoft decides to give you. Linux is ideal for user’s who like the whole do it yourself aspect about computer building and usage.
