For all of you Microsoft haters out there, this blurb is for you. Don’t worry you are not the only one who is disgusted with the Windows Operating System (Vista and XP especially). We have compiled a list of the five main reasons to why Windows (Vista) is NOT a good thing:

1. You have to pay for it. When builidng or purchasing a new computer, you want windows? Why? Go with Linux or any other UNIX based operating system. They are free, as opposed to a Windows operating system where you pay several hundreds of dollars to run your computer. You can get the same effect if you just take your time, visiting forums on how to use UNIX based operating systems. Did you know Ubuntu is also free? What have you got to lose, unless you like spending your hard earned cash especially in this faltering economy?

2. Windows is the largest target for spyware, viruses, and malware. Now, just how many anti-viruses do you need on your Windows based PC? Look at how virtually virus, malware, and spyware do not exist with Mac users? Sure there are viruses that can attack any operating system, but many ne’er do wells attack Windows based systems because that particular system is the most easily to attack. Why put your personal information at risk by using Vista? Too much could go wrong.

3. In the case of Vista, there are too many versions.
If you purchase a PC with Windows Vista already installed, watch what happens when you take it home. You have to spend the majority of the day downloading updated versions. You just bought the PC, why wouldn’t they have pre-installed the updates? At least with Linux, you receive (free of course) periodic updates that do not take up the majority of your work day.

4. Heavy hardware requirements for Vista users. If you are that convinced that you want to experience the full Vista experience, you had better make sure your hardware requirements are able to support the operating system. Did you know that you can resurrect your old PC that is gathering dust in your closet if you install Linux? It will work as if you just purchased a new machine. You’ll be able to surf the internet and even play games.

5. Affects Gamers. Vista currently is withholding DirectX10 from XP users. DirectX10 was suppose to allow for higher levels of detail within games—more realistic, especially atmospheric effects for example. So, if you drop money on the latest, newest game, make sure you drop a hundred more if you are an XP user.
