Are you a web publisher and you want to make money from your website? Then you may have found a friend in Google adsense.Google ad sense is a management centre for webmasters who want to display text and image adverts on their websites. The adverts are related to the content of the website or the individual machine. Google pays a web publisher a percentage of the advertising money paid by the advertisers. The adverts come in two forms: banners and search.

Each banner comes in various regular sizes that you can display in text, images or videos. The first step is to get your website registered by the Google ad sense program. You will fill out a simple form and Google will decide on the status of your application depending on the suitability of your website. If approved you will be given a code to paste onto your pages and the adverts will be detected by the browsers.

Ad sense for search comes in two variations. You can place a search box on a page that either redirects to the Google specific search engine page for that country or it can redirect to a results page on your own site showing Google results. These results pages will have advertisers in them. You make money each time a user clicks on the adverts. The amount of money will depend on how much the advertiser has paid and the percentage allocated by Google. Each click is monitored by a tracking system that attempts to eliminate any fraudulent clicks. The results are seen on the reports page of your account. The tracker will let you see the click through rates (CTR) which is the percentage of people who have checked your ads and clicked on them.

Google has two forms of payment. Pay per click and pay per impression. The pay per click generates more revenue especially if you have a constant stream of visitors to your site. The click per impression fetches low earnings though it is good for small traffic websites. It is however highly unreliable for advertisers.

Ad sense is a definitely win-win situation for Google, the web publishers and the advertisers. By having their advertisements spread across the internet the advertisers have more exposure and hence more clicks on their site. They therefore increase their revenue from the increased exposure. By putting adverts on many websites the advertisers funds are consumed up quickly and they end up paying more to Google. On the part of web publishers they gain by just having people click on the websites. So everyone ends up gaining. Certainly this is one of the most ingenuous ways that the advertising industry has seen.

There are numerous success stories from web publishers some of whom get double digit earnings from the website. The web publishers thus have enough funds to generate great content. But of course you have to provide free and relevant content for you to attract the kind of traffic needed to boost your earnings significantly.

The ad sense is definitely one of the best ways for web publishers to make money and as the thirst for information continues to surge web publishers will be in a particularly good position to make lots of money.
